You want to find out what is wrong with your house, but how do you do that without tearing it apart?
There is a mess-free, non-invasive way to “see inside” your walls, windows, ceiling and roof. Thermal imaging technology shows us what the human eye cannot. It senses infrared light and displays that temperature information in a way we can see and understand. For example, if there were a rodent in your walls, you would be able to see its shape because its body is producing heat. A thermal imaging camera can also be used to identify areas that are not well insulated, suffer water damage or have electrical issues.
Find Potential Problems with Thermal Imaging
Does thermal imaging detect mould? Yes, it does! Thermal imaging can be used for many things. Its main use in our industry, however, is to look for problem spots in your home. Here are some of the things we are looking for:
- Hot/cold spots
- Deficient insulation
- Deficiencies in windows/doors/ceilings
- Heating/air conditioning and duct system defects
- Roofing or plumbing leaks
When to use this service
Potential homebuyers are wise to hire a thermal imaging professional. It is customary to add a home inspection contigency to any offer. Why not go the extra step and get a thermal imaging evaluation as well? It will give you a heads up about any insulation, electrical, plumbing or rodent issues. This information could keep you from buying a lot of unsuspected trouble.
If you suspect that you have one of the issues mentioned above, you should let us know. Even if you are confident you know the solution, it is worth finding out for sure. Don’t waste your time, effort and money. Let us diagnose the problem, then do what needs to be done to see it repaired. We also offer follow-up inspections to see if the repair has been successful. This is especially valuable if you hire a contractor with a time-limited satisfaction guarantee.
How this helps you
You want your home to be safe and healthy, so do we! You do not want to spend any more time, money, or effort than is necessary to accomplish this goal. This is our wish for you as well. Thermal imaging home inspections enable you to make informed and strategic renovations. They increase your chance of success and provide a benchmark by which to measure that success. We will go over the thermovision images (thermograms) with you, helping you see what we have identified. This knowledge then gives you the opportunity to avoid disaster and further optimize your home’s efficiency.
How to proceed
Go throughout your house and make a list of anything you find concerning. Notify our team of these concerns. You can further prepare by moving large furniture away from the walls. Keep in mind that we may need to go throughout your whole house. You don’t have to do a deep clean but please ensure there is room to walk around. We will schedule an appointment when one of your household members can be present. You will want to be present to answer questions and learn as much as you can.
